The site preserves the history of German immigrants who settled in the Texas Hill Country during the mid-1840s. Visitors can explore ten historic structures, including a one-room schoolhouse, a log cabin, a Sunday house, and a smokehouse. The grounds also feature the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department Museum, which displays early twentieth-century firefighting equipment.
