LBJ State Park & Historic Site

Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site offers a look into the land and people that shaped the 36th president. The park features 1.2 miles of easy walking trails that wind past pastures of American bison and Texas longhorns. At the Visitor Center, you can view memorabilia from Johnson's presidency and pick up a free permit to drive through the adjacent LBJ Ranch, located just across the Pedernales River.

Before you go

Picnic areas, grounds, and the nature trail remain available until nightfall. Sauer-Beckmann Farm operates 10 a.m.-4 p.m. October-May and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June-September; it closes on each month's final Tuesday. The farm and other buildings are unavailable on Thanksgiving as well as Christmas and New Year's Day. The swimming pool operates in summer.

What is the Sauer-Beckmann Farm?

The Sauer-Beckmann Farm is a living history farm presented as it was in 1918. Interpreters in period clothing perform daily chores, raise crops, care for animals, and cook meals on a wood-burning stove.

Are dogs allowed at LBJ State Park?

Yes, leashed dogs are allowed in most outdoor areas of the park. However, they are not permitted inside any state park buildings, including the Visitor Center and historic cabins.
