Rocksprings Cemetery Historical Marker

The town of Rocksprings traces its beginnings to 1889, and just three years later, J.R. Sweeten donated two acres of land for a community cemetery. Though formally designated in 1892, earlier burials date back to 1891. Among the more than one thousand graves are those of early settlers, travelers passing through the area, and victims of the devastating tornado that struck the town on April 12, 1927. The site is marked by a Texas Historical Commission marker placed in 1989.
