The Odeon Theater
Built in 1928, the Odeon Theater opened with a screening of the silent film "Metropolis" and quickly became a central gathering place for the community. In 1957, it hosted the premiere of the Disney film "Old Yeller," based on the novel by Mason native Fred Gipson. When the theater faced closure in 1994, local residents formed the non-profit Odeon Preservation Association to purchase and restore the building, ensuring its survival as a cultural venue.
