Leakey Cemetery

Located on RR 337, Leakey Cemetery is a significant historical site in Real County. Originally called Floral Cemetery, the land was provided by town founders John and Nancy Leakey. The cemetery contains over 900 documented burials, including the oldest known graves of Sara Catherine McLaurin and Allen Lease, victims of the last Indian raid in the Frio Canyon area in 1881. A Texas Historical Commission marker near the entrance details the site's rich pioneer history.
