Schumacher Crossing Historical Marker

Located one mile east of Hunt on TX 39, the Schumacher Crossing Historical Marker interprets the history of the dams built across the Guadalupe River in the 1920s. Christian Schumacher emigrated from Germany to Texas in 1845 and moved to Kerr County in 1880. His son, John Randolph Schumacher, constructed a series of dams to protect a stream crossing and a new road to Hunt from floodwaters.
