San Saba County Courthouse

The San Saba County Courthouse was completed in 1911 to a design by Walter W. Chamberlin, a courthouse architect working across the South. It is Classical Revival in red pressed brick with rusticated sandstone and buff stucco trim, with a wood-framed clock tower showing a face on each of its four sides, and pediments bearing a large star, the county's name and the motto 'From the People to the People'. Pecan trees, part of the square's early landscaping, still shade the lawn.

Before you go

It is a working county courthouse: the square and the outside are there any time, and the building keeps county business hours. Be respectful of court in session.
