Getting into the guides
HillCountry.ai is a network of town guides for the Texas Hill Country, each with a local guide that answers questions from what it actually knows. This page explains what that is and what being in it means. If it sounds like a fit, call and we will talk about what you are after.
What the network is
A guide for each town, a directory of real places behind it, and a set of field guides on the things people actually come here for — the water, the night sky, the fall color, the parks. It is built and run by Backroads Hill Country, which has represented Hill Country vacation rentals since 2001.
- 354 places in the directory, across 68 town pages and 11 regions.
- 10 field guides on rivers, lakes, parks, stargazing, fall color and the wine trail.
- 97 vacation rentals, with live availability.
- A Facebook community of 40,000 and a travel app with 425+ store reviews.
Why it matters to you
The guides answer from the directory. When somebody asks a town guide where to eat, what to do on a wet afternoon, or where to put a group of twelve, it answers from the places it knows about. A business that is not in the directory is not an option it can offer — not because anyone ranked it low, but because it is not there.
The people asking are not browsing. They are planning a trip to a specific town, usually within a few weeks of taking it.
What this is not
Being listed does not buy a recommendation. The guides are built to answer honestly, and a guide that talks up whoever paid is worth nothing to the person asking and, before long, nothing to you either. What a listing does is make you findable and make sure what is said about you is right.
There is no self-serve sign-up and nothing to buy on this page on purpose. Every town and every kind of business is different, and the useful version of this conversation starts with what you are trying to get out of it.
Who should call
- Hill Country businesses — places to eat, drink, shop, ride, float, tour or stay.
- Vacation rental owners who want their property on the network.
- Anyone already listed who wants what the guides say about them corrected.
Call 830-850-9011 and ask for Spencer. The phone rings in Bandera. Tell me what you run and what you are hoping for, and I will tell you straight whether the network can do anything for it.
