Overlook Scenic Viewing Area and Canyon Dam

Constructed by the USACE and impounded in 1964, Canyon Lake serves as a flood-control reservoir for the region. The overlook area grants access to the dam's service road, which functions as a wide, paved walking trail. Visitors traverse the earthen structure, observing the contrast between the deep water of the reservoir on one side and the limestone gorge of the Guadalupe River on the other.
